Mid-Appalachian Highlands Club

Hiking in Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia

Welcome to the Mid-Appalachian Highlands Club website!

The Mid-Appalachian Highlands Club (MAHC) is a hiking and outdoor activity club located in the Tri-Cities area of East Tennessee. Our members are primarily from the Johnson City, Bristol, Elizabethton and Kingsport areas. The club was founded in February, 1976, and is one of the oldest in the region.

We welcome guests and new hikers anytime.

The club has hikes on most every Saturday as well as Sunday. For details on hikes, our policies, meeting locations, and times, go to the Hike With Us page. If you feel like you need more information, go to our Contacts page to call or email us with your questions. If you just want to view or download a PDF file of our hiking schedule, click on the appropriate link under the Quick Links section.

In addition to hiking, some members of the club volunteer to help maintain several hiking trails within the region, including the Appalachian Trail, the Iron Mountain Trail, and the Lone Oak Trail.

What's good about our club?

The Mid-Appalachian Highlands Club welcomes people of all ages, backgrounds, and hiking ability. We are not out solely for exercise, but also to socialize, have fun, and enjoy each other's company. So come join us for a great day on the trail!
